The Economics Of Addiction Laid Bare

And let's not forget that this is the whole point of marketing in the electrified age of our mutated economic operating system: to message something to the point where you just can't do without it. And boy what a money maker we get when we can combine that with a product that was built to stay on message like one a hundred times more powerful than morphine.

Just wait, though, till VR gets a lot more high fidelity. You think they can message, and develop the product to go with the economics of addiction now? What about when they have a fundamentally more direct route to the brain. You think you can't wait for the super entertaining distractions to come? All they can hear is the mega echo of ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching.

If we go down this path we will earn exactly the kind of folly it deserves. And so will the kings of ka-ching, even though they have no clue as to just how bad that will be. Because their addiction is just as bad as ours is.
